Dominick was 12 when the bike shops around Paoli shut down and the repair line stretched into months, so he started fixing neighbors' flats and brakes himself, out of the family garage. He used what he made to buy six kids new bikes for Christmas, on top of saving for the mountain bike he wanted for himself.
The parent signed off
Karen let the bikes take over the house, she says at one point the only place in the whole home without a bike in it was the bathtub. She didn't clear it out, she helped him find an actual garage to move into instead.
Why we picked this one
Nobody handed Dominick a bike shop. He just kept fixing the bike in front of him until there was a line of them, and a mother who decided the bathtub could wait.
You don't need a garage full of bikes. A mower, three doors on your street, and one fair price is the same idea in an afternoon.

Where it happened:
Paoli, Pennsylvania
There's probably a bike in your garage with a flat tire that's been flat since spring. Twelve is old enough to find out why.
