Loomis 9-year-old trades screen time for gardening, builds successful business

Richard, 9, started with two planter boxes behind his house in Loomis. Three years and one LLC later, he's a regular vendor at the Loomis Farmers Market, selling vegetables he grows himself.
The parent picked up a hammer too
Kabryna didn't touch the dirt. She helped Richard file the LLC paperwork and get him through the county's approval process so he could sell at an actual market instead of just a card table out front.
Why we picked this one
Everyone's going to read this and land on the screen time line, but skip past it. The real hinge is the LLC. A nine-year-old wanted to sell vegetables from a folding table and his mom didn't stop at letting him, she filled out the paperwork that makes it legal. That's the whole move: not growing the garden, just clearing the one adult-shaped obstacle in front of it.
Five dollars, one kid, one basket at the market. Whatever ends up in it is dinner, no substitutions, no vetoes, even if it's four pounds of radishes and a lemon.
