Brayden, 12, runs Brayden's Vegetable Stand on Hatch Road in Auburn, Maine, starting vegetables from seed and raising chickens, pigs and cows on his grandfather's farm, then selling produce and homemade zucchini bread on the honor system to feed the neighborhood.
The yes behind it
Every morning at 6:30, one of Brayden's parents drives him the two miles to his grandfather's farm, drops him off, and leaves him to run the day on his own.
Why we picked this one
Nobody signed Brayden up for farming, he just never wandered off his grandfather's tractor lap. The Saturday-sized version of this isn't a 12-by-14 farm stand and six cows, it's one zucchini too many on the counter and a cardboard sign at the end of the driveway.
Brayden's out there starting seedlings for a whole honor-system farm stand on Hatch Road. You don't need the chickens or the pigs, just one pot, one seed, one windowsill, and a kid who checks it every morning until something actually comes up.

Where it happened:
Auburn, Maine
Somewhere in your kitchen there's a vegetable nobody's going to eat before it goes soft, and a kid who's already asked if they could sell it.
